A label and an extremely old spruce top. Both of which have suffered from years of neglect and abuse. The label and top are from an 1834 C. F. Martin with birdseye maple back and sides, and a “Stauffer style” headstock. It was brought into the shop in pieces with rubber bands holding it together. This guitar has been banged up many times over, suffered major water damage, and was truly a “vintage” guitar when Abe Lincoln was president.

This is a restoration in progress, so enjoy the photos and captions, and keep coming back for more progress updates. The finale will be a high quality sound byte of the owner playing the guitar!
